Kulsoom Shah L.Ac, M.A.O.M
My interest in Chinese Medicine was sparked after I began studying martial arts. An interest in the underlying philosophy and principles of taijiquan is what inspired me to explore Chinese Medicine. Heralding from a background in Biological and Physical Sciences I was skeptical when I first began my studies, however, the clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine spoke for itself. I completed my Master’s in Chinese Medicine at the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas and received my Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from NCCAOM in 2017. After several years of practice in a community clinic setting and a private clinic, I was moved to pursue a Doctorate in Classical Chinese Medicine and Orthopedic Acupuncture which I will complete in 2025.
The Chinese arts are a way of life and a system which supports my self cultivation so I can be of service in the world. For me, the practice of Chinese medicine is informed and supported by a regular practice of Neigong and Taichiquan. My hope is to assist my clients, whether it is for support with management of a chronic illness, pain regulation, emotional balance, health maintenance, or self cultivation, and share the same joy that I experience from knowing myself better, with my clients. Only through understanding the nature of our minds and bodies, and cultivating the ability to give ourselves the care and attention we need to feel grounded can we live harmoniously.
